RENO, Nev. - Nevada closed the weekend at the Judy Sather Classic with two shutout wins against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds Sunday afternoon.
The Pack is now 19-2 in the season before starting conference play against San José State next weekend, March 17-19.
GAME 1
Southern Utah 0 - Nevada 13
Carley Brown threw another shutout game of five innings to improve her record to 7-2. Brown gave up three hits and a walk while striking out seven Thunderbirds players.
Pack offense came out to play, after recording nine runs in the first inning. As a team, Nevada recorded 13 runs, ten hits, 12 RBI, six walks, and three strikeouts.
Maile Olsen went two for two at-bat to lead the offense with three RBI triple to the right field in the first inning. Aaliyah Jenkins was two for three while hitting her fifth home run of the season after an over-the-fence ball to center field in the third inning.
Gabby Herrera, Andrea Lira, Haylee Engelbrecht, Hannah Di Genova, Maya Larsen, and Bridgette Gilliano tallied one hit on the board for the Pack.
GAME 2
Southern Utah 0 - Nevada 2
Tyra Clary picked up her sixth win of the season after starting the second game of the day against the Thunderbirds. Clary gave up three hits and strikeout two after playing four complete innings.
Brown came in to relief Clary in the fifth inning and recorded her second save of the season. The senior gave up two hits and strikeout three against Southern Utah.
In the offense, Nevada scored the first run on a double steal by Olsen, who stole second, and Painter, who stole home. Larsen singled to right field and scored Olsen from third to put the Pack up by two runs in the second inning.
Chelie Senini, Herrera, Hawkins, Painter, and Olsen all tallied one hit for the Pack.
UP NEXT
Nevada will now hit the road to San Jose, Calif., to start conference play March 17-19.
