Former Wolf Pack Standouts Earn 1A FAR Academic Excellence Awards

RENO, Nev. - Wolf Pack graduates Alexa Anderson and Jacob Anderson have been named recipients of the 2012 1A Faculty Athletics Representatives Academic Excellence Awards.

To be eligible for the awards, student-athletes had to earn bachelor's degrees in the previous academic year (Sept. 1, 2011-Aug. 31, 2012), hold a cumulative GPA of 3.80 or above upon graduation and participate in at least two years of intercollegiate athletics at a NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) institution in a sport sponsored by an FBS conference.

A four-time Western Athletic Conference All-Academic selection, Alexa Anderson competed for the Wolf Pack track and field team. She served as the president of Nevada's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2011-12 and earned her degree in health ecology in December of 2011. A 2009 WAC All-Academic honoree, Jacob Anderson was a pitcher for the Nevada baseball team and earned his degree in biology in May of 2012.

Emily Myers broke the previous school record held by senior teammate Demerey Kirsch by 31 seconds with her seventh-place finish is her second top-ten finish of the season at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale Calif.
