RENO, Nev. -
The University of Nevada Athletics Department is continuing its community partnership with the Reno Rodeo at this year's event.
“The Reno Rodeo is Nevada’s Hometown Rodeo, so it’s only natural for us to continue our partnership with the University of Nevada,” Reno Rodeo Executive Director Marie Baxter said. “We look forward to showing all Wolf Pack fans a howling good time at the Reno Rodeo.”
As part of the partnership that began in 2010, the evening of Sunday, June 23 will be billed as “Wolf Pack Night”. Fans wearing Wolf Pack appareled gear or presenting a University of Nevada student, faculty, or alumni ID, will receive $5 off of a general admission ticket ($10). Fans will also receive a coupon for a specially priced Nevada vs. UC Davis football ticket for Sept. 7. The 2013 Reno Rodeo runs June 20-29 at the Livestock Events Center.
In addition, Nevada Director of Athletics Doug Knuth will serve as a guest stagecoach rider, the Wolf Pack Howlers will perform the National Anthem and Wolf Pack cheerleaders and mascots will be on hand for the Mutton Bustin event.
This fall, the Reno Rodeo Foundation will be at the Nevada vs. BYU football game on Nov. 30 to raise awareness about the organization's highly successful annual Denim Drive that provides clothing, socks and underwear for children and teens who have been rescued from abusive homes. Fans are encouraged to drop off items before entering the game.
The "Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West," the Reno Rodeo is a 10-day event. The Reno Rodeo is a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) sanctioned sporting event. Reno Rodeo is a non-profit organization made up over 500 volunteers. Over 140,000 fans will be in attendance for the 4th richest PRCA tour rodeo. The event impacts the Reno/Sparks area economy with $42 million going to hotels, casinos, restaurants and retail. The Reno Rodeo has been nationally televised on CBS Sports, Fox Sports Net, Versus, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Classic.
