Dr. Jerry Dales (1973-94/ Team Physician)





Dr. Jerry Dales was the Nevada athletic team physician for over 20 years. A local orthopedic surgeon, Dales was on the sidelines for virtually every football and basketball game played at Nevada for those two decades. Dales served in the Air Force in the mid-1950’s and was based at Stead Air Force Base. After his Air Force hitch, he went to medical school in Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, returning to Reno in 1966 to set up his practice. He was a prominent member of the Wolf Club and was involved with the YMCA, the City of Reno Parks and Recreation Board, and for years preformed high school physicals city-wide. In 1980, Dales was bestowed honorary alumnus status at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Jordan Pearce

Baseball

Sophomore Jordan Pearce led the Nevada baseball team to a 3-1 week with an extra-innings nonconference win over Grand Canyon and a rivalry series victory over UNLV. On the week, Pearce batted .429 with six hits, nine RBI, four runs, one double, two triples and one home run. Pearce’s efforts helped Nevada clinch Governor’s Series points in baseball for the second straight season.
