Johnny High (1977-79/ Basketball)





Johnny High is recognized as one of the finest all-around guards to ever play basketball at Nevada. His two year career, during the 1977-78 and 78-79 seasons, was highlighted by the team’s 40-15 combined record, an appearance in the 1979 National Invitation Tournament, and several individual achievements. High still holds the season steals record (115) and was All West Coast Athletic Conference in 1978 after averaging 17.4 points per game with impressive assist and steal figures to go with the average High was selected in the second round of the NBA draft by Phoenix Suns, where he had a five-year NBA career. His induction to the Hall is posthumous. High died in a traffic accident in June of 1987 in Phoenix. He was 30.

Women's Basketball

Junior T Moe made history during Friday night's season-opening win over UC Santa Barbara by collecting the program's first triple-double. The 5-8 guard kicked off her season by posting 19 points and career-highs with 12 rebounds and 11 assists to capture the feat, the 10th to be done in the Mountain West. Moe made a strong push for her triple-double in the second half of action, tallying 13 of her 19 points in that half. Nine of her 11 assists were passes inside that led to Nevada's dominance in the paint where the Wolf Pack outscored the Gauchos by 24 points.
