Kelly Dick Orlich (1981-83/ Softball)





Orlich was a multi-sport athlete at Sparks High and graduated in 1979. In her early years, she went on to become a member of the Cincinnati Reds organization a key cog in the “big Red Machine” that won the World Series in 1975 and 1976. Orlich carried on her amazing talents to the Nevada Softball team earning All-American honors as a shortstop in 1982. By the time her Nevada career ended, Orlich held the team records in virtually every offensive category including batting, home runs, runs batted in and stolen bases. After college she got into coaching, leading McQueen to the state softball championship in 1986.

Albright wins 500th game

Following a hard fought 70-64 road win at San Diego State on Jan. 27, Nevada women’s basketball coach Jane Albright earned career win No. 500. Albright, who just completed her 32nd season as a Division I head coach, ranks 31st among active Division I coaches in career victories. Nevada is her fourth head coaching stop after previously coaching at Wichita State, Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.
