Pete Padgett (1972-76/ Basketball)

Padgett was West Coast Athletic Conference newcomer of the year and second team all conference as a freshman basketball player in 1973. From then on, it was three straight all-conference years, 1974-76. He was the UNR career rebounding leader by a wide margin with 1,464 (14.1 per game) and, although he never led a team in scoring any individual year, he was third on the all-time scoring with 1,642 (15.8 per game). His rebounding figures led the WCAC four straight years. At the time of being Inducted into the Hall of Fame he was still the WCAC career assist leader with 784 (conference games only). Padgett received the Doc Martie Award in 1976, signifying the top male athlete at Nevada. He went on to become a teacher and basketball coach at Carson City High School. His overall basketball coaching record is 104-74 in seven seasons.
