Val York (1958-61/ Basketball, Baseball)

Val York was a four-year basketball letterman and a three year baseball letterman between 1958 and 1961. He was All-Far West Conference in basketball twice, leading the team in scoring during the 1959-60 season and in assists in the same year and in 1960-61. His teams won the Far Western Conference in 1961 and tied for the title in 1959. He was coached by Jake Lawlor for two years and Jack Spencer for two. In baseball, he played infield (third base and shortstop) and was the team’s leading hitter during the 1961 season. He received the Doc Martie Trophy in 1961 as the outstanding senior athlete.

Madison Morell


Madison Morell had a career-day in Nevada's 3-2 upset of No. 25 Wyoming. Morell set a new career-high with 31 kills, including five in the fifth set. Her 31 kills was just one shy of tying the program record of 32 set by Lauren Netherby. The Plano, Texas, native is the first player in the Mountain West this season to register 30+ kills and is also tied for ninth in the nation for most kills in a five-set match this season.
