Races are offered for all abilities and skill levels
RENO, Nev. – The Nevada cross country and track and field programs will host a running fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 22 at Mackay Stadium.
The event will feature a number of unique, mile-long races for all levels of ability, whether running or walking. Highlighted races include the Alumni Mile, a Survivor’s Mile for any who have survived cancer or heart disease, a Wheelchair Mile and a Chocolate Milk Mile. Each participant in the Chocolate Milk Mile will drink a half pint of chocolate milk before each lap.
Each participant will be placed into a race with others trying to run/walk approximately the same time. For example, races will be held for participants attempting to break five minutes, seven minutes, 10 minutes or 15 minutes.
The cost of the event is $5 to race, or $5 to enter the stadium and spectate. Registration for the Chocolate Milk Mile, however, is $10. Refreshments and t-shirts will be available for sale. Proceeds benefit the Nevada cross country and track and field programs.
