2013 NEVADA CHASE RACE
When: Friday, August 30, 2013
Where: Washoe County's Rancho San Rafael Park, Reno, NV
- 6:00pm - Collegiate/Open Men's 3 mile
- 6:30pm - Collegiate/Open Women's 2 mile
Chase Race Format: This will be a handicap style race with the lowest ranked athletes starting first followed by groups of higher ranked athletes at regular intervals. This will create an exciting last mile with athletes getting closer together rather than farther apart in the latter stages of the race.
Athletes will start in groups based on their position on their team. The seventh, eight and lower ranked athletes on a team will start when the gun is fired. Thirty seconds later the fifth and sixth runners from each team will start. Thirty seconds later the third and fourth runners from each team will start. Finally, thirty seconds later, the first and second runners from each team will start. If teams have nine or more, we may add one more starting group.
Awards: Awards will be handed to the first ten athletes in each collegiate race across the finish line regardless of when they started.
Scoring: After the race is complete, we will subtract the individual athlete's handicap time to create individual and team results just like a traditional race without the handicaps.
Course: The course is a mix of grass and dirt trails with rolling hills. The course crosses pavement for short stretches. Spikes may be used.
Course Preview: The course will be first available for preview on Friday, August 30 from 4:00pm until race time.
Packet Pick Up: At Chinese Pagoda near finish line
Medical: Trainers will be available at the course starting 45 minutes before the first race. They will be stationed near the Chinese Pagoda which is near the finish line.
