Meet the Pack: Megan Mize

Name: Megan Mize Height: 5-11 Position: DS Hometown: Stateline, Nevada The Wolf Pack volleyball team will be fun to watch this year because: We are a hard working group of girls who are making great strides toward a successful season. For me to improve as a player I need to: Get better at anticipating where the ball is going to go, and moving more quickly with a wider base position. My favorite pre-game ritual is: Hanging out with the team in the locker room and getting pumped for the gam. My teammates would best describe me as: Goofy and awkward. The best place on campus is: The Virginia State Gym and the Quad. What I like most about my hometown is: the location. I love living in Tahoe and being close to the mountains and lake. Favorite thing about being at Nevada is: Being part of the Wolf Pack Volleyball team and being close to my family. If I wasn't playing college volleyball I would be: I would being going to school and hopefully be involved in a foreign exchange program to a different country. A place I've never been but would love to visit: England. One moment in history I wish I could have seen: When the US hockey team beat the Soviets in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. Favorite class: History of Jazz. Favorite food: My Mom's Lasagna. Least favorite food: Raisins. Favorite color: Blue. Favorite movie: Forrest Gump and She's the Man. Favorite actor: Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski. Favorite actress: Sandra Bullock. Favorite TV show: Modern Family and Glee.
Where I want to be 10 years from now: I want to be happy and have a successful and fulfilling career. If I could add one team to the schedule it would be and why: I would play Oregon State because I have a good friend from high school who plays on the team. I wear my number because: It was given to me. Favorite song: Don't Stop Believing - Journey. Favorite junk food: Pizza. Most impressive person you know: My Mom. Person you would most like to trade places with for a day: A Disney Princess. People who have most influenced your athletic career: My Parents. The best advice you have ever been given: Do what makes you happy and never give up. Why did you choose to attend Nevada: I chose Nevada to because I wanted to be part of the Nevada Wolf Pack volleyball team. The best book I have ever read: The Harry Potter series. Something people would be surprised to know about me: I was born in Germany. If I could have dinner with any two people it would be: Walt Disney and Princess Diana. My greatest athletic accomplishment to date is: Being part of the Nevada Volleyball team. If I won $1 million I would: Invest it, buy something nice for my parents and travel around the world. A friend from another college volleyball team is: Darby Reeder. She plays for Oregon State and is amazing. The athlete I admire most: Kerry Walsh. My favorite sport other than volleyball is: Baseball and hockey. If you could have any car, what would it be: Old Volkswagen Bug. My advice to kids is: Do what makes you happy, work hard and believe that anything is possible if you have a positive attitude. What is on your iPod right now: Mumford and Sons, Hunter Hayes and of course Justin Bieber. What was your favorite childhood toy: Pogo Stick. My biggest fan: My Dad. Individual goals for the season: I want to get better at picking up tips and being in a lower and more accurate position on the court in order to pick up hard driven balls. Biggest pet peeve: When people aren't considerate of others. Earliest volleyball memory: Trying out for the seventh grade volleyball team in middle school. If I could be on a reality TV show it would be: So You Think You Can Dance. Extreme sport I would like to try: Bungee jumping. If stranded on a desert island, three things I would take with me: My dog, family, and a telephone that has signal.
