Pack Play Next Three WAC Matches Away From Home: The University of Nevada (5-9, 1-0 WAC) volleyball team will play its next three matches away from Reno, Nev. starting Thursday at New Mexico State (7-4, 2-0 WAC) at 7:00 p.m. followed by a match at Lousiana Tech (11-7, 1-1 WAC) Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The three match road swing concludes on Oct. 8 at fourth ranked Hawai'i.
Staker Joins Another List: Four Pack players are current ranked in the top 10 in various career lists and continue to climb the charts this season.
Senior Jorgan Staker added her name to another list after last week's play moving into 10th in total blocks with 217. Staker is also tied for seventh with Karen Adams (2001-04) with 212 block assists.
Junior Lindsay Baldwin appears on three of the lists, ranking sixth with 856.5 career points, is fourth with 291 block assists and is fifth with 321 career total blocks.
Fellow junior Kylie Harrington has taken over the number eight spot with her 713 career points.
Senior setter Sonnie Sei is ninth with 1,417 career assists.
Team Notes: For the ninth consecutive year the Nevada opened WAC play with a win downing Fresno State 3-1 last weekend and the Pack are 9-1 in WAC openers since joining the conference in 2000... Nevada's four set win over FS marked the first win by the Pack this season that did not go five sets...The Pack are 4-0 in five set matches this year...the Pack played in four tournaments to start the season and went 1-2 in all four...Nevada snapped a season-high four-match losing skid downing Houston 3-2 in the final match of the Wildcat Classic on Sept. 5...for the first times since 2003 Nevada won its season opener downing Connecticut 3-2 on Aug. 28...the Pack were picked to finish fifth in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Poll...Nevada ranks fifth in hitting (.183%), fifth in assists (10.55 aps), eighth in blocking (1.94 bps), eighth in digs (11.85 dps), seventh in opponent hitting percentage (.215%), fifth in kills (11.45 kps) and seventh in service aces (1.07 saps) in the WAC while in conference only action the team ranks fourth in hitting (.205%), second in assists (14.25 aps), fourth in blocking (3.00bps), first in digs (19.00 dps), fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.195%), third in kills (14.75 kps) and third in service aces (1.50 saps) after just one match.
Player Notes: Junior Kylie Harrington recorded her team-high fourth double-double of the season with career-highs in kills with 22 and digs with 20 as the Pack opened WAC play defeating Fresno State 3-1 last Saturday...Harrington has led the Pack in kills in 12-of-14 matches this season and reached double figures in kills 12 times this season...twice this season Harrington has totaled 20 or more kills with the 22 vs. FS and 21 vs. Houston...three Pack players recorded double-doubles in the FS win Harrington, junior Lindsay Baldwin (10k,10blocks) and freshman Elissa Ji (15k,14d)...Sophomore setter Tatiana Santiago's 40 assists vs. FS was the high by a Pack player this year...Santiago is second on the team with two double-doubles...Santiago and senior Sonnie Sei have split time at setter as they average 4.96 and 4.35 assists per set respectively...Sei dished out her 1400th career assist in the Pack's 3-0 loss at Sacramento State (Sept. 22) and her current 1,417 ranks ninth in school history...Santiago averages 10.00 assists per set in WAC play to rank fourth in the conference...Baldwin is 10th in the WAC with a .275 attack percentage and 10th in blocks (1.11 bps) while in WAC play she leads the conference averaging 2.50 blocks per set and is ninth in points (4.12 pps)...Harrington ranks fifth in points (3.82 pps) and fourth in kills (3.44 kps) in the WAC but in conference play tops the conference in points (5.88 pps) and kills (5.50 kps) while ranking fourth in digs (5.00 dps)...junior libero Nicole Link's 30 dig performance in Nevada's 3-2 victory of CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 19 established a new career-high and ranks as the fourth best total in school history surpassing her 29 at FS on Sept. 11, 2008 that was the fourth best mark at Nevada...Link's 30 digs is the top total in the WAC this season...Link ranks fifth in digs in the WAC averaging 3.64 per set and in WAC play is tied for first with 5.50 per set and is also tied for fifth averaging 0.50 aces per set...Harrington's five service aces vs. UCONN (Aug. 28) is tied for the most by any WAC player this season...Link has led the Pack in digs nine times this season including the last five matches...four times Link has either tied or posted the match high in digs...senior Jorgan Staker came off the bench and totaled 12 kills versus Portland State (Sept. 12) which is one off her career-high...Staker hit .588 in the PSU match which is the high by any Pack player this season...sophomore Erin Garvey established a new career-high with 12 kills versus Sam Houston State (Sept. 12)...Ji ranks 10th in points (4.00 pps), is tied for eighth in kills (3.76 kps) and is ninth in digs (3.50 dps) in WAC play after one match...sophomore middle blocker Brittni Yates injured her ankle in the Pack's match with Eastern Washington on Sept. 4 and has yet to return to action.
