Meet the Pack: Sommer King

The Wolf Pack volleyball team will be fun to watch this year because: There is a new energy to the team the brings higher expectations for the season. For me to improve as a player I need to: Become more aggressive and more consistent in all areas of the game. My favorite pre-game ritual is: Getting pumped up in the locker room with the girls. My teammates would best describe me as: Hard working and reserved. The best place on campus is: The Virginia Street Gym! What I like most about my hometown is: The 24 hour access. Favorite thing about being at Nevada is: The volleyball team. If I wasn't playing college volleyball I would be: Going to school for music. A place I've never been but would love to visit: London. One moment in history I wish I could have seen: My dad playing football at UNLV. Favorite class: The study of jazz. Favorite food: My mom's tacos, or her chili. Anything my mom makes! Least favorite food: Bologna, or mayonnaise.
Favorite color: Mint green. Favorite movie: Dream Girls. Favorite actor: Will Smith. Favorite actress: Sandra Bullock. Favorite TV show: Glee. Most prized possession: My state championship ring. Where I want to be 10 years from now: With a successful career. If I could add one team to the schedule it would be and why: Howard, so my family members in DC could come watch me play. Favorite singer or group: Mariah Carey. I wear my number because: It was my dad's number in college. Favorite song: Make it Happen by Mariah Carey Favorite junk food: Cinnabon. Most impressive person you know: SK4MC Person you would most like to trade places with for a day: Mariah Carey. Person who has most influenced your athletic career: My dad. The best advice you have ever been given: "It's not what you do in practice; it's what you do outside of practice." -Sam King Why did you choose to attend Nevada: The coaching staff, the team and the strong athletic program. The best book I have ever read: The Poisonwood Bible Something people would be surprised to know about me: I was the captain of my cheer team. If I could have dinner with any two people it would be: Mariah Carey and Common. My greatest athletic accomplishment to date is: Being a part of the Wolf Pack. If I won $1 million I would: Put it in the bank. A friend from another college team is: Durrell McDonald-University of DePaul-Men's Basketball. The athlete I admire most: Sam King, my dad. My favorite sport other than volleyball is: Basketball. If you could have any car, what would it be: Range Rover. My advice to kids is: Be your own person. What is on your iPod right now: Just Friends by Musiq Soulchild. What was your favorite childhood toy: Skipit. My biggest fan: My family. Individual goals for the season: Have a faster arm swing, be a better passer/defender and positively contribute to the team. Biggest pet peeve: People chewing with their mouth open. Earliest volleyball memory: My mom helping learn how to serve out in front of our house by throwing the ball back to me after I hit it to her. Thanks mom! If I could be on a reality TV show it would be: Say Yes to the Dress. Extreme sport I would like to try: Hang gliding. If stranded on a desert island, three things I would take with me: A knife, a blanket, and my dog. |
