COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Nevada middle blocker Tessa Lea`ea has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Sept. 17-23, 2012. It is the first Mountain West weekly honor for the 6-3 native of Stockton, Calif.
Lea`ea, a redshirt sophomore, led the Wolf Pack to a 2-0 record for the week as Nevada beat Texas Tech (3-2), followed by a 3-2 win over San Diego State in the Conference opener. She posted a season-high 21 kills against the Red Raiders to go along with nine blocks. Against SDSU, Lea`ea earned a team-high 15 kills and six blocks for the Wolf Pack's first Mountain West win. Lea`ea was the team leader for both matches in kills and blocks.
For the week, Lea`ea averaged 3.60 kills and 1.50 blocks per set, while hitting .325. She averaged 4.45 points per set over 10 total sets. Over the two matches, she also recorded an assist and two digs.
