Silver and blue scrimmage free for all fans
Aug 22, 2013
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada volleyball team will hold its final preseason scrimmage this Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Virginia Street Gym, with admission free to all fans. The Silver and Blue scrimmage will be played as an intrasquad match, with eight Wolf Pack players a side taking the court.
Nevada will play a five-set match with some variances, as the final rotation comes together for the 2013 season.
"This is a fun atmosphere for our fans and supporters, and gives them a great chance to look at the team before the season begins in earnest," coach Ruth Lawanson said.
Outside and back row players may switch teams on Saturday as the Pack coaching staff attempts to work toward a final lineup. In addition, each of Nevada's three setters could play with each lineup, making the changes on the court fast and furious and the atmosphere in the gym fun for the Wolf Pack faithful in attendance.
Nevada's regular season will begin with three games at the Cal Molten Classic from August 30-31. The four-team tournament, hosted by California, will see the Pack take on New Mexico State at noon on day one, followed by the host Bears at 7 p.m. The Pack will close out the event with a match against UC Santa Barbara at noon on the 31st.
Nevada's home schedule begins with the first game of the Wolf Pack Classic on September 5. The event kicks off with a 7 p.m. match against the UC Davis Aggies at the Virginia Street Gym.
