Aug 20, 2013

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada volleyball team was picked to finish 11th in the Mountain West in 2013, in a vote of the conference's head coaches.

The Wolf Pack earned 15 total points, while defending conference co-champion San Diego State received nine first-place votes and was picked to repeat with 99 total points. Last season, SDSU shared the MW title with Colorado State. The Rams collected the two remaining first-place votes and earned 90 points overall.

San Diego State senior Johnna Fouch has been named the 2013 MW Preseason Player of the Year and the designated setter on the seven-member All-MW Preseason Team.  Fouch is joined on the preseason team by fellow Aztec Raegan Shelton, New Mexico teammates Chantale Riddle and Miquella Lovato, and Colorado State setter Deedra Foss.

Fresno State's Korrin Wild and UNLV's Madeline Westman round out the list of preseason honorees as selected by the head coaches. Six of the seven members are returning 2012 All-MW team members. Fouch and Riddle also are returning honorable mention All-Americans.

Nevada and 2012 All-MW performer Tessa Lea'ea will begin their season against New Mexico State on August 30, in Berkeley, Calif. The 2013 season opens on that Friday with all 11 league teams in action.
