Silver & Blue Volleyball Scrimmage Set For 7:00 p.m. Saturday

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada volleyball team will hold its annual Silver & Blue scrimmage at the Virginia Street Gym on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.  The scrimmage is free and open to the public.  The Wolf Pack opens the season Aug. 27-28 at the Missouri Tournament playing Utah Valley, Missouri and Maryland.
The team will once again be under the direction of 14th year head coach Devin Scruggs who welcomes back 10 letterwinners and five starters from last year’s team that went 11-20 overall and tied for fourth in the Western Athletic Conference with a 7-9 record.   Heading the list of returners is first-team All-WAC selection Kylie Harrington and second-team honoree Lindsay Baldwin.  WAC Freshman Team selection Elissa Ji returns for her second season.
Libero Nicole Link and outside hitter/defensive specialist Jessica Daum join Harrington and Baldwin to give the Pack four seniors on the roster of 15.  The junior class includes a pair of starters in right side hitter Erin Garvey and middle blocker Brittni Yates.  Junior setter Tatiana Santiago is expected to step into the starting spot in her third year in the program.
Defensive specialist Kelly Chang and middle blocker/right side hitter Janelle Batista should be key contributors in their second year in the program.   The freshman class is led by local twins Grace and Sofia Anxo who will press the veterans for playing time in year one.  Tessa Lea`ea, Dana Holt and Briana Heinen round out the freshman class and should be contributors in their first season at Nevada.
