COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West announced today plans to send an all-star women's volleyball team to Europe, July 8-19, 2014. Leading the trip will be San Diego State women's volleyball coach and 2012 MW Coach of the Year Deitre Collins-Parker.

University of Nevada middle blocker Sam Willoughby has been selected to the Mountain West All-Star women's volleyball team that will compete in Europe in July.  Willoughby will be a junior next season and is one of 12 MW athletes on the team.

This past season Willoughby started all 32 matches and 109 sets for the Wolf Pack.  Willoughby averaged 2.41 kills, 2.87 points and hit .228 in her sophomore season.

Twelve Mountain West student-athletes make up the team that will travel to Venice, Italy for two days of training sessions and participate in two more days of friendly matches before competing in the 2014 European Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia. From July 13-18, the team will play against Junior National teams from Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary and Russia as well as club teams from Italy, Serbia, Austria and Romania. Bring It Promotions, under the ownership of Tim Kelly, is managing the Mountain West all-star trip and has been running the Global Challenge tournament for 10 years. BIP has been coordinating overseas University tours since 1997.

The Mountain West all-star team includes two setters, one libero, four middle blockers and five outside hitters from eight of the 11 MW member institutions. New Mexico's Julia Warren is one of three team members named All-Mountain West last season.  Warren, the 2013 MW Freshman of the Year, is joined by Conference honorees Kelsey Snider of Colorado State and Hanah Blume of San José State.
