RENO, Nev. -  The University of Nevada (3-24, 1-14 MW) volleyball team snapped two streaks on Thursday night at the Virginia Street Gym defeating San Diego State (13-13, 8-8 MW) in five sets.  The Wolf Pack snapped a season-high 17-match losing streak and a 29-match Mountain West losing skid.

The Pack defeated San Diego State 3-2 on Sept. 22, 2012 to win its first ever MW match then dropped 29 in a row until knocking off the Aztecs tonight.  The Pack won tonight by scores of 22-25, 26-24, 25-23, 20-25 and 15-6 to improve to 3-24 on the season and 1-14 in the MW.  The Aztecs dropped to 13-13 and 8-8 in conference play.

With the match tied at two sets each the Pack jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in the deciding fifth set.  Nevada built a 10-point cushion 14-4 on the way to the 15-6 victory and 3-2 match win.  Junior Tessa Lea'ea had four of her match-high 19 kills in the final set.

There were 11 ties and six lead changes in the first set before SDSU closed out the set with a 6-3 run to win 25-22.  Freshman Lyndsey Anderson served six consecutive points to get the Pack off to a 6-0 advantage in the second set.  Nevada led 16-6 and had to hold on for the 26-24 victory to even the match a one set apiece.

Nevada trailed early in the third set before forcing the final tie of four in the set at 23.  Kinsey Minter and Sam Willoughby kills gave the Pack the 25-23 victory.  Set four was tied at 16 but a 9-4 Aztec run gave SDSU the 25-20 victory forcing a deciding fifth set in which the Pack prevailed 15-6 to win the match 3-2.

Four Nevada players reached double figures in kills led by Lea'ea's 19.  Senior Grace Anxo  finished the night with 14 while Madison Morrell and Willoughby had 10 each.  Anderson dished out 26 assists and Dana Holt surpassed 1,100 career assists after recording 23 tonight.  Libero Kara Kassar had 10 kills and three of Nevada's 10 service aces in the match.

Summer Nash topped SDSU with 18 kills and Raegan Shelton totaled 16.  Setter Johnna Fouch posted a match-high 47 assists and libero Christie Ring totaled 13 digs.

Nevada hit .236 in the match and the Aztecs .228.  SDSU totaled eight blocks and the Wolf Pack six.

Nevada hosts UNLV on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Governor's Series matchup presented by NV Energy.
