LARAMIE, Wyoming – The University of Nevada volleyball team fell 3-2 (31-29, 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 8-15) to Wyoming despite pushing a Mountain West opponent to the brink on Saturday night.
The loss dropped the Wolf Pack to 4-12 (1-2 MW), while the Cowgirls improved to 12-6 (1-2 MW).
Nevada had three players with at least 10 kills in the loss and was paced by Tessa Lea’ea with 18.
Junior setter Dana Holt directed the Nevada offense to 55 kills on 184 attacks and a .141 hitting percentage. She had 46 of Nevada’s 51 assists.
Defensively, Nevada blocked well as a group. Of the Pack’s 33 blocks, 31 were assisted. Janelle Batista led the way individually with nine blocks, one solo and eight assisted.
Nevada will return home next week to face two Mountain West opponents, taking on rival UNLV on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Fresno State on Saturday at noon. Both matches will be at the Virginia Street Gym.
