  • NEVADA: Returns for her second season after having an outstanding freshman year that saw her garner second-team All-WAC, All-WAC Freshmen team, and All-WAC Tournament team honors in her first year in the Silver & Blue...earned a starting spot as a freshman and should continue with the success she had a year ago...great blocker who finished with 112 block assists and 123 total blocks which are the second and fifth best seasons respectively in school history...only freshman in the WAC to rank in the top 10 in hitting percentage a year ago finishing 10th overall at .281 and fifth in WAC only matches at .308...ranked in the top 10 in blocking in the WAC in 2004.

    Karly Sipherd was named to the 2005 All-WAC preseason team.

    2004(Fr.): Earned a starting spot in her first season and was named to All-WAC second-team, WAC Freshmen team, and All-WAC Tournament team... played in all 31 matches and 104 of 112 games... reached double figues in kills seven times with a career high 15 coming at Fresno State on Oct. 9...second on the team and fifth in the WAC with an average of 1.18 blocks per game...in WAC only play her 1.24 blocks per game ranked sixth...ended the year with a .281 attack percentage that ranked second on the team and 10th in the conference...posted a .308 attack percentage in WAC only matches which was fifth best in the league...only freshman to rank in the top 10 in hitting percentage in the WAC...recorded a block in every match but one...112 block assists is the second best season in school history and 123 total blocks is fifth...season high eight blocks occurred twice vs. eventual NCAA Champion Stanford on Sept. 4 and vs. Hawai`i in the WAC Tournament on Nov. 21...earned first volleyball letter.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered three seasons in volleyball for coach Tracy Churchman and two years in track & field for coach Rick Foley at Placer High School in Auburn, Calif....her senior year she totaled 306 kills, 196 blocks, 132 digs, and served up 38 aces...numerous volleyball honors include: 2002 Sierra Foothill League MVP, 2003 All-Sierra Foothill League, 2003 All-Metro, and 2004 MVP of Volleyball Optimist Game...named the 2004 Most Outstanding Female Athlete at Placer High School and by the Auburn Journal...member of 2003 PHS track & field team that captured both league and sub section titles as she was the league high jump champion and added league and sub section titles in the discus...at the 2004 sections she competed in the high jump and ran on the 4x100 relay...played club volleyball for Momentum for two years...voted one of Sacramento Magazine Top 12 athletes for 2004.

    GETTING ACQUAINTED: Enjoys watching sports, being with her family and friends, reading, and sleeping in her free time... uncle Mark Harris played five seasons as a wide receiver in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers... daughter of Kevin Sipherd and Sara Tetzel...history/english major...born December 8, 1985.
