RENO, Nev. -

WHAT'S HAPPENING

The University of Nevada track and field team will open the 2012 indoor season at the Jackson Open Friday in Nampa, Idaho. The team finished fifth in the 2012 WAC Indoor Track and Field Championships last season.

LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR'S EVENT

Boise State will host the event with a start time of 3:30 p.m. Nevada will be joined by Portland State, Boise State, and Utah Valley in the meet. Last season at the Jackson Open, the Wolf Pack recorded 17 top-five finishes for the meet, with seven runner-up spots and one event win.  Nevada’s  lone winner came in the high jump with senior Nicole Williams.  Williams, fresh off finishing her eligibility from women’s basketball, was competing in the indoor high jump for the first time in her collegiate career and cleared a mark of 1.70-meters (5’7.00”).  Behind Williams, La Tijera Avery cleared the same mark, but with more misses finished second.

LOOK BACK AT THE 2012 WAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Senior Angelica Earls and sophomore Kashae Knox return to lead the sprints group. Knox took home the silver while Earls claimed the bronze in the WAC finals last year. Deborah Amoah will look to have a strong final year with the team, as the senior broke several personal and program records for the jumps group last season. Amoah won silver in the championships last year in the triple jump and 60-meter hurdles.
