WHAT’S HAPPENING

Competing at the NCAA West Preliminary Round hosted by the University of Arkansas Kerri Simmons and Raffaela Wiesbeck wrapped up their seasons with strong performances, but missed qualifying for the NCAA Finals.

Nevada senior Simmons entered action ranked 32nd in the west for shot put and finished 15th overall with a mark of 51’4.25”.  Sophomore Wiesbeck had the 33rd best javelin mark in the West Region heading into action, and her throw of 151’11” was the 18th best in the competition Friday.

“Both came very close to making it to the NCAA Finals in Eugene Ore. as they outcompeted their rankings heading into the weekend.  We are proud of the way they competed and are looking forwards to watching Demerey race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase tomorrow.” – Head Coach Shantel Twiggs.
