Nevada Qualifies Five for NCAA Preliminary Round

RENO, Nev. - WHAT'S HAPPENINGThe University of Nevada track and field team will send five student-athletes to the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary West region this week. Seniors Danielle Stallworth, Sarah Nichols, and Nicole Williams will represent Nevada along with Junior Deborah Amoah and Sophomore Mariah Gramolini. Williams will participate in the high jump. The senior cleared 1.70m (5-07.00) to tie for third place at the WAC Outdoor Championships.
Deborah Amoah will compete in the long jump and triple jump. Last season Amoah placed 16th in the triple jump at the prelims with a mark of 40'11.75" (12.49 meters), missing the top-12 qualifiers by less than two feet. At the WAC Outdoor Championships the junior finished second in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 12.48m (40-11.50). Amoah finished second in the long jump with a program record mark of 6.00m (19'8.25). Gramolini will run in the 800 meter event. The sophomore won gold at the WAC Outdoor Championships with a personal best time o 2:11.34. Check nevadawolfpack.com for results after completion of the meet. |
