RENO, Nev. - Sam Diaz, Natalia Jarawka and Christy Works will compete in the distance carnival Friday night at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invite hosted by UCLA at Drake Stadium.
Over 20 colleges are scheduled to compete in the meet including: Arizona, Azusa Pacific, Cal Poly, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Northridge, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, Pepperdine, Sacramento State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Francisco State, UC San Diego, Utah State and Washington State.
The distance carnival is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. Friday night and will include the women's steeplechase, the 800m, the 1,500m and the 5,000m.
Earlier this outdoor season Works ran the fastest 800m time for the Pack this year and posted a PR with a time of 2:13.78. Jarawka has run the fastest 3000m steeplechase time this year for Nevada running an 11:22.35 while this will be Diaz's first meet of the year.
