Track and Field Finishes 11th at Cal-Nevada Championships

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The University of Nevada track and field team finished 11th out of 28 teams at the Cal-Nevada Championships hosted by UCLA at Drake Stadium.

La Tijera Avery finished third in the finals of the high jump with a PR jump of 1.73m (5-08.00) beating her previous PR of 1.68m set earlier this year.  The mark is also tied for seventh all-time on Nevada's top-10 list, is the best mark in the WAC this year and is the 23rd best mark in the nation this year.    

Christy Works finished fifth in the finals of the 800m run with a PR time of 2:13.78.  Cristina Hibbert finished fourth overall in the finals of the 400m hurdles with a time of 60.82.

Jalessa Jeffery finished second in her flight and ninth overall in the finals of the shot put with a season's-best throw of 13.06m (42-10.25).          

The 4x400m relay team of Deirdre Perrigrue, April Pate, Christy Works and Cristina Hibbert finished fourth overall with a season's-best time of 3:50.45.  The time is also the ninth-best 4x400m relay time in program history.
