Nevada Pentathlete to compete at UW Invitational
Jan. 29, 2014
Reno, Nev. -
The University of Nevada track and field team is sending Nicole Wadden to compete at the UW Invitational hosted by the University of Washington at the Dempsey indoor facility in Seattle, Wash. The Women’s pentathlon will begin Friday, January 31st at 2:00 p.m.
Women’s pentathlon consists of five events; 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and the 800-meter dash. All athletes compete in each event, and their time or mark from each event is compared to a score sheet set by USATF. The score sheet lists how many points a given mark or time is worth, and in the end the athlete’s scores from each event are totaled, and the athlete with the highest total is the winner.

THOUGHTS FROM ASSISTANT COACH SCOTT WILLIAMSON
“This will be her first pentathlon of the season, and we are hoping to lead off where last year ended. She has shown some improvement, and this will be her second chance to compete and show it this season. Last week she competed in three events which are all part of the pentathlon, but this will be her only pentathlon before the MW Championships.”
