Pack travels to Nampa, Idaho for Blue and Orange Opener

The University of Nevada track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Blue and Orange Opener hosted by Boise State at the Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa, Idaho on Saturday.
Nevada will be joined by Oregon and Boise State in the meet which will begin with field events at 9:30 a.m.
LOOK BACK AT LAST YEAR'S EVENT
Senior Angelica Earls had record day in the Blue and Orange Opener last season, setting a new program record time of 7.45 in the 60-m dash. Sophomore Kashae Knox clocked in at 7.52 in the race for the second best time on Nevada's all-time list. Senior Deborah Amoah, won the triple jump, with a mark of 11.97-meters (39'3.25").

"The team has trained hard during the break," head coach Shantel Twiggs said. "They are excited for the opportunity to go out and compete again. I'm looking forward to seeing them deliver some strong results."
RECAP OF LAST MEET
The team will look to build on its impressive 2012-13 start at the Jackson Open that took place on Dec. 1. Freshman Nicole Wadden put together an impressive pentathlon, finishing in first place with 3,478 points. The total placed Wadden seventh on Nevada's all-time list. The sprinters group also had a strong outing, as senior Angelica Earls, and sophomores Kashae Knox and Anita Momodu ran quality times. Earls led the group with a second place finish in the 60-meter dash, clocking in at 7.53, just off her personal best and school record set last year. The senior also had a nice finish in the 200-meter event, finishing second with a time of 24.50. Knox tied for third with a time of 7.54 in the same event, which is just .02 seconds off her personal best of 7.52. Momodu ran the seventh best time in program history with a time of 7.77.
