Nevada Women's Tennis Closes out Fall at Bulldog Classic

Nov. 10, 2011

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada women’s tennis team will close out play this Fall with a trip to the Bulldog Classic, competing from Friday to Sunday this weekend.

The 12th annual event will be hosted by Fresno State and feature a number of schools from up and down the west coast.

Two tournaments into the season, the Wolf Pack has three players with four individuals singles wins, and has been led on the doubles court by the team of Juliette Legendre and Sophie Stevens, who have two victories to their credit.

Stevens is 4-2 in singles play after a strong showing in Nevada’s first tournament, the Cal Nike Invitational, where she won four times as an individual.

Fellow returners Michelle Okhremchuk and Emma Verberne have also played well, as they are the other two members of the Pack to win at least four times so far this year.

Verberne is 4-4 overall so far, while Okhremchuk stands at 4-3.

Newcomers Legendre and Iva Lepcevska have combined for five singles wins, playing well in their first few months on campus.

After competing in the Bulldog Classic, Nevada will retire from the court until January 20, 2012, when it opens dual play with a matchup against Cal State Northridge in Long Beach.
