RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's tennis team will conclude its fall season when it makes the trip to Calif. for the San Jose State Invitational.
Four Wolf Pack ladies will be making the trip to the Bay Area where Nevada will compete with three other teams. The Pack will get a much deserved break over the winter from school, but come right back to action. Head coach Guillaume Tonelliknows this weekend is important for the teams preparation.
"This is the last chance that we get to work on things outside of a normal practice," he said. "We will see where the girls are at and decide on what we need to work on before the season."
Michelle Okhremchuk will lead the way for the Pack, as she continues her chase of the record books. She is currently 6-2 in singles play this season, and is 1-1 against nationally ranked opponents. Her six victories moves her into third all time for career singles victories at Nevada, only four behind former teammate Emma Verberne.
Sheila Morales Hidalgo will try to continue to pick up victories in her first season with the Pack, having notched three already this season. Veteran Sheila Smileyhas also picked up three wins during the fall. Okhremchuk and Smiley will be the team to compete with in doubles play, as together they are 3-1.
The San Jose State Invitational begins on Friday at 9:30 am with singles action.
