Wolf Pack Wraps Up in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- The University of Nevada women's tennis team finished up a strong weekend Sunday at the ITA Mountain Region Women's Championships. The Wolf Pack was led by the team of Emma Verberne and Michelle Ohkremchuk throughout the event, as they earned a semifinal berth in the doubles Flight A bracket. They dropped their match on the final day to No. 1 seed Veronika Popovici and Simona Synkova of Mountain West foe Wyoming 9-7. Ohkremchuk also led the way in singles, as she finished with a quarterfinals birth in the Main Draw Singles top half bracket. There she battled with Sarah Pham of Utah before finally falling 6-4, 7-5. Verberne also earned a quarterfinals birth in her Main Draw Singles bottom half matches. It took three sets before Tereza Bekerova was able to put her away, as she dropped the match 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. Nevada will not compete again until the Fresno State Invitational in Fresno, Calif. on Nov. 8.
