Women's Tennis No. 2 Seed at WAC Tournament
RENO, Nev. - The Nevada women's tennis team (13-7, 7-1) will compete in the WAC Tournament in Fresno, Calif. this weekend.
The winner of the tournament will not only be crowned conference champion, but will also receive an automatic bid in the NCAA Championships next weekend.
The tournament will take place from April 29-May2, on campus at Fresno State University. Nevada, who obtained the No. 2 seed based on their regular season play, competes their first match Saturday at 11 a.m. PST.
The Pack will meet the winner of the Fresno State v. New Mexico State first round matchup. The three seed, Fresno State, has won the tournament eight consecutive times going into the 2010 contest.
If Nevada can come out of their first match with a victory, they would play for their first conference championship Sunday at 11 a.m. PST.
Nevada is led by senior Maria Mizyuk, who will graduate from the program second all time in singles wins and first all time in doubles wins. Feats she accomplished despite missing almost a full year due to injury.
