HONOLULU - On the second day of the Western Athletic Conference Championships, the third seed and No. 66 University of Nevada women’s tennis team were defeated 4-0 by second seed and No. 36 Boise State on Friday at the University of Hawai`i Tennis Complex.
Nevada (13-9) was unable to secure the doubles point. Vivien Silfany and Klaudia Wlodarczyk defeated sophomores Aodhnait Lombard and Caroline Stevens 8-5 in No. 2 doubles, ending Lombard and Stevens’ five match win streak together. Sophomores Lais Ogata and Florence De Vrye were defeated 8-3 by Laura Baum and Bianca Jochimsen in the No. 3 spot. With Boise State picking up the doubles point, the match in the No. 1 spot between senior Caroline Bailly and junior Maria Mizyuk against Lauren Megale and Pichittra Thongdach was unfinished.
In singles competition, De Vrye forced a third set after losing the first set 6-4 to Megale in the No. 2 position. But Megale won the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
