Women's Tennis Matches Best Ranking in School History
RENO, Nev. The Nevada women’s tennis team improved to No. 56 in the most recent FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, matching the school’s best-ever ranking.
After being ranked No. 61 last week, the Pack moved up five spots despite a narrow loss at No. 36 Denver. The ranking of No. 56 matches the previous best for the school, which came in April of 2001.
“This is very exciting for our program to get this kind of recognition,” second-year coach Sylvain Malroux said. “We are proving that we belong there and if our team develops some confidence, then the sky is the limit.”
In addition, the doubles team of Caroline Bailly and Maria Mizyuk is ranked 47th in the nation. The duo has a record of 7-0 in dual play and is 14-3 overall during the 2006-07 season.
Nevadais 6-5 so far during this spring rigorous dual match season. The Wolf Pack will be back in action on Friday with a dual match at Oregon. The team’s first home match is slated for March 31 against Saint Mary’s.
