De Vrye Remains Unbeaten in Dual Play, But Wolf Pack Falls to No. 40 BYU

PROVO, Utah - The University of Nevada women’s tennis team were downed 4-3 by No. 40 BYU Saturday. However sophomore Florence De Vrye remains unbeaten in dual competition.

De Vrye, last season’s Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, defeated Kristina Doerr 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) in No. 2 singles play. With the win, De Vrye is 3-0 in dual competition and moves to 6-7 overall on the season.

Junior Maria Mizyuk picked up her second win on the season by defeating Romina Nedakvovic 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 spot.

Nevada was also able to pick up the doubles point. Mizyuk and senior Caroline Bailly, the Wolf Pack’s all-time career doubles wins leader, picked up their first win on the season defeating Doerr and Megan Price 8-6 in the No. 2 spot. It is also their 40th career-win together. Sophomores Aodhnait Lombard and Caroline Stevens secured the point defeating Elle Carney and Elle Ezhova 9-8 (9-7) in No. 3 doubles.

Nevada (1-2, 0-0 WAC) will conclude its weekend Sunday when it will head to Salt Lake City, Utah, to face No. 43 Utah. The match is set to start at 11 a.m. MT.
