ALBUQURQUE, NM -- The Nevada women’s tennis team defeated the New Mexico Lobos by a score of 7-0 Friday inside The Randy Briggs Tennis Bubble.
“We came out very strong in the doubles to set the tone,” Head Coach Sylvain Malroux said. “I felt like we didn’t give them any chances.”
The victory pushes the Pack women’s overall record to 2-4, 1-2 in the WAC.
Nevada won each match against the Lobos, as they came out on top in each of the three doubles matches, as well as each singles match.
The most highly contested match of the evening came in the No. 4 singles spot. Nevada’s Sophie Stevens dropped her opening set to the Lobos Amy Shipperd by a score of 6-2. Stevens rallied to win sets No. 2 and No. 3 6-1 and 6-4 respectively.
New Mexico fell for the third consecutive match, dropping to 1-5 on the season. They will be back in action against Kansas State Sunday. The Pack will meet Kansas State tomorrow to finish their weekend of competition.
“I hope we can come back in the same form tomorrow,” Malroux said.
