LAS VEGAS, Nev. - On the first day of action from the ITA Mountain Regionals in Las Vegas, the University of Nevada women's tennis team picked up a win in singles play.

The Pack had three players secure a spot in the second round of the ITA Mountain Regionals. Nevada only grabbed one victory, but thanks to two first-round byes, Nevada has three second round matches. Head coach Guillaume Tonelli is excited for the second round.

"I am proud of the girls fighting through adversity," he said. "I cannot wait to see them compete tomorrow at the tournament."

Sheila Morales Hidalgo picked up a victory as she builds upon her freshman campaign, knocking off Amber Stuhlman of Utah State University 6-1, 6-4. Michelle Okhremchuk received a bye in her first round, as she was seeded as the No. 5 player in the tournament. In doubles play, the team of Okhremchuk and Sheila Smiley received a bye in their doubles draw, as they are the No. 3 seed.

The ITA Mountain Regionals from Las Vegas continue on Thursday with doubles play beginning in the morning.
