BERKELEY, Calif. -- During the final two days of the Cal-Nike Invitational, the Nevada Wolf Pack women’s tennis team earned five victories, led by the doubles team of Emma Verberne and Michelle Okhremchuk.
In the gold doubles consolation draw on Saturday, Verberne and Okhremchuk defeated the team of Hanah Liljekvist and Liz Searl 8-2 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, they were victorious against Melissa McQueen and Olga Kirpicheva of Fresno State 8-3.
Nevada did not compete on Sunday due to a number of minor injuries suffered by Wolf Pack student-athletes. No one is expected to miss extended time, but head coach Guillaume Tonelli took a causious approach to the final day of the event.
Rymma Maslova played her way to two victories on Saturday. Teaming with Anne Susdorf of Fresno State, Maslova defeated Blair Reed and Melinda Akerbrandt of University of South Florida 8-5. The pair also defeated Ashlyn Schmitgen and Melissa Arthur of St. Mary's 8-1.
In the singles consolation round robin, Okhremchuk scored a victory over Iveta Masarova 6-1, 6-2.
Senior Sophie Stevens was also victorious in her singles match, defeating Erica Medlin of San Jose State University in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
