Pack Wins Twice on Day One

BERKELEY, Calif. -- The University of Nevada women’s Tennis team won two matches on Friday to begin the first day of the Cal Nike Invitational.

In the gold singles flight, returning standout Michelle Okhremchuk began her year with another victory. To start her junior campaign, she posted a win against Stephanie Vlad of Arizona State (6-1, 4-6, 6-0) in the round of 32.

Okhremchuk was defeated in the round of 16 by Lynn Chi of University of California 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.

In her first singles match at Nevada, sophomore Sheila Smiley earned a victory in the round of 32 in the blue singles flight over Stephanie Skaras of Santa Clara University 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.

Smiley was also defeated in her round-of-16 match by McKenna Maddox of BYU 6-3, 6-1.

Nevada was not able to earn a victory in doubles play.
