RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's tennis team opened Mountain West Conference play with a clean 7-0 sweep over Colorado State on Friday.

The Wolf Pack (10-5, 1-0 MW) pushed its winning streak to five-straight matches with the victory over the Rams (3-6, 0-1 MW). Nevada has now won its last five matches on its home courts of Caughlin Athletic Club. It was a perfect day for the Pack, as it did not drop a match in doubles (3-for-3) or singles play (6-for-6) in the conference opener.

"I was happy to see a strong and concentrated effort through all positions today," said Kristian Kuharszky, Nevada assistant coach. "This helped us to take control of the matches early on."

Sheila Morales Hidalgo and Michelle Okhremchuk were the first doubles pair to grab a win, a they rolled over Natalie Heffron and Lauren Pick on court one by a score of 8-1. Juliette Legendre and Sheila Smiley clinched the point with an 8-4 victory over Mollie Cooper and Kaley Schultz on court two, 8-4. Monika Magusiak and Caroline Konigsfeldt wrapped up doubles play by stopping Maddie Buxton and Celine Voss on court three, 8-5.

The match moved to 2-0 Nevada, as the first singles win was on court five from Legendre, where she ousted Kwynn Ecton in identical sets 6-1, 6-1. Morales Hidalgo made the Nevada lead 3-0 by knocking off Cooper on court two, 6-2, 6-0. Okhremchuk clinched the match for Nevada on court one with a defeat of Heffron, the 85th victory of Okhremchuk's career. Magusiak dropped Voss on court six, also in identical sets, 6-2, 6-2, to make the Wolf Pack lead 5-0. The match was then 6-0 Nevada after Smiley grabbed her ninth win of the spring by pushing past Pick, 6-3, 6-4. The final victory of the day came from Konigsfeldt on court four, as she was victorious over Maddie Buxton, 7-6(9-7), 6-1.

The Wolf Pack will be in action again on Sunday, March 30 when it battles with Grand Canyon University on the courts of Caughlin Athletic Club beginning at 1 pm.
