LOS ANGELES - The University of Nevada women's tennis team earned its second victory of a three-match road trip on Friday, as it cruised past the UC Riverside Highlanders 5-2.
The Wolf Pack (3-3) is undefeated on the current road trip after the win over the Highlanders (1-7) and have now won three straight matches. In the victory, Nevada notched seven total victories, sweeping the doubles play and four victories in singles action. Emma Verberne has earned her fifth straight win, as she powered past Taylor Raney in position two in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
"We're really riding some momentum right now, everyone is playing extremely well," head coach Guillaume Tonelli said. "Everyone is confident that they can go out there and earn a win."
The second singles victory came from Sophie Stevens, as she defeated Courtney Pattugalan in straight sets 7-6, 6-2. Juliette Legendre earned her second singles victory in as many days after she cruised past Kate Bergeson 6-2, 6-2. The final singles victory of the day came from Monika Magusiak, as she got past Thanh Doan 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles play, the pair of Verberne and Michelle Okhremchuk defeated the team of Taylor Raney and Jamie Raney by a score of 8-4. Legendre and Stevens earned a victory of their own, as they rolled over the pair of Pattugalan and Natalie McKay 8-2. The final doubles victory came from Rymma Maslova and Sheila Smiley, as they cruised past Bergeson and Doan 8-2.
The Wolf Pack is in action Saturday against the Cal State Fullerton Titans beginning at 10 A.M.
