OAHU, Hawaii -  The University of Nevada women's tennis team was able to fight back from a lengthy rain delay to be victorious against No. 65 San Jose State on Wednesday.

The Wolf Pack (1-1) was able to come from behind and snatch a victory against the nationally ranked Spartans after a 1-hour, 10-minute rain delay hit during the middle of singles action. Nevada had started the day 0-for-3 in doubles play, but fought and clawed its was back after the delay to go 4-for-6 in singles and snag the win. It was a win that showed the tenacity of the team, says head coach Guillaume Tonelli.

"The girls fought very hard and responded from yesterday's match extremely well," he said. "It is tough to start the season and they put all our assets on our side."

Monika Magusiak is 2-for-2 in singles action to begin the season after she picked up another win, this time against San Jose State. On court No. 5, she dropped Jessica Willett in an extra tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.

After two grueling, extra-set matches yesterday, Michelle Okhremchuk and Sheila Morales Hidalgo were able to come out victorious today for their first respective wins of the season. Okhremchuk downed Marie Klocker on court No. 1 by a score of 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. Morales Hidalgo needed another third super tiebreaker before she downed Sabastiani Leon Chao on court No. 2 in come-from-behind fashion, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8. Beatriz Garcia Planas also notched her first victory of the spring, as she defeated Justine Deleval, 0-6, 6-3, 10-5.
