Jan. 15, 2014
OAHU, Hawaii - The University of Nevada women's tennis team was able to fight back from a lengthy rain delay to be victorious against No. 65 San Jose State on Wednesday.
The Wolf Pack (1-1) was able to come from behind and snatch a victory against the nationally ranked Spartans after a 1-hour, 10-minute rain delay hit during the middle of singles action. Nevada had started the day 0-for-3 in doubles play, but fought and clawed its was back after the delay to go 4-for-6 in singles and snag the win. It was a win that showed the tenacity of the team, says head coach Guillaume Tonelli.
"The girls fought very hard and responded from yesterday's match extremely well," he said. "It is tough to start the season and they put all our assets on our side."
Monika Magusiak is 2-for-2 in singles action to begin the season after she picked up another win, this time against San Jose State. On court No. 5, she dropped Jessica Willett in an extra tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.
