Swimming and Diving Takes Down Cal State East Bay
Dec. 3, 2011 SAN FRANCISCO - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team defeated Cal State East Bay 152-93 in a dual meet Saturday. The win was Nevada's third in a row and moved the Wolf Pack to 3-1 in dual competition this year. East Bay fell to 2-3. The Pack won 10 events against the Pioneers, including multiple victories from Jojo Mi, Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn and Gabby Guieb. Mi won the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle events. Her 500 free time of 5:15.23 put her in a second and a half ahead of Sara Bonino of Cal State East Bay. Thaveesupsoonthorn won the 50 and 100-yard backstroke, as well as the 100-yard breaststroke. The victories against the Pioneers were her first individual wins of the season. Guieb earned wins in the 50-yard butterfly, 50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard IM. East Bay's Jenel Lopez won two events against the Pack, taking first in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle. Her 50-free time of 24.49 was the only sub 25 second time in the event. Bonino also won the 100-yard butterfly for the Pioneers. Nevada will next take to the water when it meets Seattle on January 28, 2012 at the Lombardi Pool.
