Blue Team Downs Silver Squad 150.5 To 138.5 In Intrasquad Swimming And Diving Meet

Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada Swimming and Diving team held its first of two Silver and Blue intrasquad meets on Friday afternoon at Lombardi Pool.  Each team won eight events but the Blue squad came out on top defeating the Silver team 150.50 to 138.50.   The Wolf Pack will conduct a second intrasquad meet on Oct. 13 before the regular season gets underway Oct. 28 vs. UC Davis.

The winning Blue squad had a pair of double individual winners in junior Michaela Schmidt and freshman Margaret Doolittle.  Schmidt won the 100 and 200-yard butterfly while Doolittle swam to first place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle.  The Silver squad also had a pair of individual double winners on the day in sophomore transfer Summer Halwas-Morgan and senior diver Kristin Littell.  Halwas-Morgan won the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard IM in the meet.  Littell won the 1 and 3-meter diving events that were contested.

Additional winners for the Blue team included JayDee Huppert (50-yard freestyle), Kim Kabesh (500-yard freestyle), and Mallory Welker (200-yard breaststroke).  Li Bei (100-yard backstroke), Miranda Moore (200-yard freestyle), and Megan Rose (500-yard freestyle) won individual events for the Silver team.

The Blue 200-yard relay team of Breanna Sutton, Doolittle, Stephanie Braun, and Huppert took first in the event.  The Silver relay team of Danielle Maddock, Bei, Larissa Cadag, and Moore ended the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle.
