RENO, Nev. – Following a standout performance at the individual trials in Indianapolis, former Nevada great and current volunteer assistant coach Krysta Palmer is set to compete in the FINA World Championships as a member of Team USA. Palmer will be participating in two different events, the first being July 18.
The Championships are taking place in Budapest, where Palmer will dive for Team USA in the 3-meter springboard event. Along with her individual competition, Palmer will also represent the United States as member of the mixed team diving event on July 18.
Preliminary rounds for the 3-meter springboard is scheduled to begin Thursday, July 20, where the top 18 divers from the prelims will advance to the semifinals later that day. The finals are comprised of the top 12 divers from the semis, which will take place Friday, July 21.
Palmer is just one of two divers to represent the United States in the 3-meter springboard, after she qualified for the World Championships back in May. During the trials, she scored a 927.60 and averaged a score of 67.65 per round, which was the highest score amongst the other divers.
Palmer is also accompanied by Nevada diving coach Jian Li You, who is joining the coaching staff for Team USA.
