Huang Narrowly Misses Spot in NCAA Championships

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - With 488.95 points on Saturday, Nevada sophomore Grace Huang narrowly missed qualifying for a spot in the NCAA Championships after a seventh-place finish in the platform dive at the Zone E Championships.

In ninth place after three days of competition, she will be listed as the first alternate for the NCAA's in Zone E.

The top eight finishers for the weekend earned an automatic bid to the event.

The top eight finishers in Zone E were:

1. Elina Eggers / ASU

2. Samantha Pickens / Arizona 3.

Victoria Ishimatsu / USC

4. Kristen Meier / SDSU

5. Anna Steiner / SDSU

6. Gabby Erickson / UNM

7. Kahley Rowell / Cal

8. Stephanie Phipps / Stanford

Stephanie Hansen had a strong final day, finishing one spot higher than Huang with a score of 496.05 in the platform event. Melyssa Charlton finished 16th in the preliminary round with a score of 207.75.

Huang finished sixth in the three-meter competition on Friday with a score of 611.70 and eighth in the one-meter finals on Thursday with a score of 532.80.
