Nevada Begins Defense Of WAC Swimming & Diving Title Wednesday
The three-time Western Athletic Conference champion University of Nevada swimming & diving team will begin defense of the title on Wednesday in San Antonio, Texas. The four-day meet concludes on Saturday evening with the finals set for 4:30 p.m. pacific time. Last season the Pack outscored Northern Arizona by 16 points finish with a score of 639.
The meet being held at the Josh Davis Natatorium with Wednesday's platform diving taking place at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center in Austin, Texas as the facility in San Antonio does not have a platform.
Third year head coach Mike Richmond hopes to once again lead the Pack to victory as he did the past two seasons and he was an assistant coach for the first title team in 2007. The 2010 team returns 14 athletes that were on the 2009 championship squad including the 2008 WAC Swimmer of the Year, Margaret Doolittle. The solid diving corps is expected to once again score valuable points toward another title this season.
Video streaming of the finals may be viewed for $5.95 per night or $9.95 for the full championship package at www.WAC.TV. Live meet results are available at the following link http://wac.org/swim/2010/index.htm?DB_OEM_ID=10100 .
