Nevada And San Jose State Tie In Pack's Regular Season Finale

San Jose, Calif. - The University of Nevada(12-1-1) and San Jose State finished in a tie in the final regular season competition for the Wolf Pack. Both teams scored 150 points in dual held in San Jose, Calif. on Saturday morning. Back on Dec. 3 the Pack edged the Spartans 149-148 in San Jose. With the tie the Pack ended their season with a 12-1-1 dual record.
Nevada had six individual firsts and the 200-yard medley relay was victorious opening the meet with a first place finish.
Senior diver Devon Owen led a Wolf Pack sweep in both the 1 and 3-meter events. Owen won the 1-meter with a score of 292.5 and in the 3-meter totaled 322.50 points to take first. Candice Minette was second both events and Kristen Littell placed third in both diving disciplines.
Julianne Fritcher, Li Bei, Michaela Schmidt, and Kim Kabesh combined to win the 200-yard medley relay while Nevada's second team took second place.
Bei swam to a first place finish in the 200-yard IM. She also was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Kabesh was also outstanding taking first in the 200-yard butterfly along with second in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard backstroke. Schmidt had great meet taking first in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 200-yard butterfly.
Sha Sha was the other individual winner for the Pack take first in the 100-yard backstroke. Sha was second in the 200-yard backstroke and third in the 200-yard IM.
Four swimmers had second place finishes in the meet, Bobbie Lee Reese (200-yard freestyle), Larissa Cadag (100-yard freestyle), Mallory Welker (200-yard breaststroke), and Stephanie Smith (500-yard freestyle). Senior Maren Gunsales was third in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Next action for Nevada is Feb. 22-25 at the Western Athletic Conference Championships being held in San Antonio, Texas.
