Wolf Pack hosts CSU East Bay, UC Davis in double-dual

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team (1-6) will host Cal State East Bay (1-5) and UC Davis (6-2) in a double-dual Saturday afternoon at Lombardi Pool.  Competition will start at 12 p.m.  UC Davis handed the Wolf Pack a 154-99 loss when the teams faced each other earlier this season.

Sophomores Mengjiao Mi and Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn will lead the swimmers.  Mi, the 2009-10 WAC Freshman of the Year, leads the team with 11 first-place finishes on the season.  Mi has also managed a top-three finish against each of the Wolf Pack's ranked opponents, including No. 1 Stanford and No. 5 Cal.  Thaveesupsoonthorn has recorded a top-three finish in each of Nevada's dual meets this season, including seven first-place finishes.

Freshman Grace Huang and junior Aniesa Debaji will lead the Wolf Pack divers.  Huang, a two-time Verizon WAC Athlete of the Week, and Debaji have finished in the top-three on both boards in each of Nevada's dual meets this season.  Both divers also recorded impressive scores at the Wildcat Diving Invitational Nov. 19-21 where they faced competition from No. 1 Stanford, No. 6 Southern California, No. 7 Arizona, No. 16 Wisconsin and No. 23 San Diego State.

This is Nevada's first competition since spending a week in San Juan, Puerto Rico to train and prepare for the remainder of the 2010-11 season.

The meet is free and open to the public.  Fans can also follow the action online at nevadawolfpack.com.
