Nov. 10, 2012
RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada swimming and diving team defeated New Mexico 160.5-139.5 at Lombardi Pool on Saturday, pushing its dual record to 3-1 and recording its second dual-meet win against a Mountain West school this season. The Lobos fell to an even 3-3 on the year with the loss. Mengjiao "Jojo" Mi won three times on Saturday (100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle) and was joined by teammates Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn and Luiza Vieira. The victories gave Mi eight individual-event wins in only three dual meets in 2012. Thaveesupsoonthorn won at varied distances, taking the 1,000-yard freestyle, the 400 IM and the 200-yard breaststroke. Vieira touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke. Mi clocked times of 52.47, 1:54.72 and 5:08.99, respectively, in her wins. Katelyn Lawson finished second in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:58.96, a little more than four seconds behind Thaveesupsoonthorn at 10:53.09. Vieira's winning time was 2:06.84.
